Team Scoreboard — Split a Training Room into Teams

Making teams by hand eats ten minutes of every workshop and usually produces the same clusters of colleagues who already sit together. Team Scoreboard does it in one tap: pick a number between two and eight, and the server shuffles everybody who has joined the room into balanced teams, each with its own name and colour. If the shuffle puts two managers on one side, the trainer moves someone across with a single dropdown — no dragging, which matters when the laptop is on a lectern.

Once the teams exist, the scoreboard runs itself for the rest of the day. The trainer gives points to a whole team for winning a round, or to one person for a good answer, and can attach a short reason so the room knows what was rewarded. Points can be taken away as easily as they are given, which is useful when a team overruns its presentation slot for the third time.

Everybody sees where they stand. Each phone shows its owner's team name and colour at the top of the screen and the full standings underneath, so nobody has to ask which team they are on after the coffee break. The projector shows the same standings as large horizontal bars in each team's colour, with the member names listed underneath — readable from the back row of a long room.

Because teams live in the room rather than in the activity, the same teams carry through everything else you run: a live quiz, a brainstorm, a round of Digital Champions voting. Points earned in the quiz are added to each person's total and roll up into their team, so a single scoreboard can hold a whole two-day training together.
