Spin the Wheel — Random Name Picker for Trainers

Spin the Wheel solves the small problem every facilitator has twenty times a day: who goes next. Instead of scanning the room and picking the person who happens to be making eye contact, the trainer opens the wheel on the projector and spins. The wheel fills itself with the names of everyone who has joined the room, so there is no list to type and no one is accidentally left out.

The wheel also takes your own list. Type one item per line — discussion topics, group tasks, energiser games, prizes at the end of a workshop — and the same big, flat wheel spins through those instead of names. Switching between the two takes one tap, so the same activity can pick the next speaker in the morning and the next topic in the afternoon.

Fairness is built into how the spin works. The winner is chosen by the server with a cryptographic random draw before the wheel starts turning; the animation on the screen is only there to make the moment enjoyable, and every phone in the room shows the same result at the same time. Participants see the wheel on their own screen too, with a clear "that is you" when their name comes up.

Turn on "everyone gets one turn" and the activity becomes a fair rota: each winner is dropped before the next spin, so everybody presents once before anybody presents twice. Names on the wheel always stay upright and readable, in Burmese as well as English, and a long list rolls past as a name strip instead of squeezing into slivers. Every spin is kept in a history list, which is enough to settle any argument later about who has already had a turn.
